Introducing
Paula Melville-Clark
MMus,
GradDipMus, BA, LGSM, Dalcroze Cert, LISTD

Paula Melville-Clark
is Lecturer in Music
and the founding Director of the Junior Academy of Music at the University
of Southern Qld in Toowoomba. She is a registered teacher with over 30 years
of experience. She has held teaching positions in England, France, Hong Kong
& Australia, working with children, tertiary students and teachers in many
areas related to music and movement.
She conducts regular weekly classes in
Toowoomba including an
Early Childhood Music Program (0 – 5yrs), Children’s Music and Movement
classes (Primary), Tuned Percussion and Recorder ensembles (Primary),
Children’s choir, Aural classes (Secondary), Dalcroze Music Skills classes
(Secondary), Theory classes (Primary & Secondary), AMEB exam preparation and
piano tuition (Beginners - Advanced).
As
a Dalcroze specialist and experienced musician, Paula is a regular guest
teacher at workshops and conferences in Australia and overseas. Her
innovative approach to music in the early years is documented in her book, ‘Music,
Moving & Learning in Early Childhood’ published in 2006. Paula is one of
the few practitioners in the world applying Dalcroze techniques to
instrumental performance and gives master classes to students of all ages
and instruments wishing to polish performances for eisteddfods and exams.
She holds a Master in Music degree in piano teaching (USQ) and a Licentiate
(Piano Teaching) from the Guildhall School of Music in London and accepts
beginner to advanced piano students.
