Dr Diane Selmon has been an enthusiastic and committed teacher for many years on the piano staff of Sydney and Wollongong Conservatoriums, Westchester Conservatory New York, and since 1981 of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. In addition, she has given masterclasses overseas and around Australia. She studied with Claudio Arrau in New York and Germany; won the national TV quest Showcase; has performed overseas and in all Australian States; toured for Musica Viva; and appeared as concerto soloist with a number of orchestras, being described by The Australian newspaper as “a great artist” with “superb pianism” (Jan. 1990 review). Her Master’s degree research was on the link between Liszt’s songs and his piano music and her PhD was on Clara Wieck-Schumann as a composer.

Teaching. Having performed piano duo and duet concerts for 26 years with her late husband Charles Glenn, Diane is a keen chamber music and accompaniment teacher and coach, and has written and implemented various accompaniment courses at QCGU. Her teaching now centres on advanced-level students and on consulting work for other teachers.
