Dr Diane Selmon
PhD, MMus, DSCM
Hons 1in Performing and Teaching, LMusA, AMusA.

Dr Diane Selmon
has been an enthusiastic and committed
teacher for many years on the piano staff of Sydney
and Wollongong Conservatoriums, Westchester Conservatory New York, and since 1981 of Queensland Conservatorium
Griffith
University. In addition, she has given
masterclasses overseas and around Australia. She studied with Claudio
Arrau in New York and Germany; won the national TV quest
Showcase; has performed overseas and in all Australian States;
toured for Musica Viva; and appeared as concerto soloist with a number of
orchestras, being described by The
Australian newspaper as “a great artist” with “superb pianism” (Jan.
1990 review). Her Master’s degree research was on the link between Liszt’s
songs and his piano music and her PhD was on Clara Wieck-Schumann as a
composer.
Teaching. Having
performed piano duo and duet concerts for 26 years with her late husband
Charles Glenn, Diane is a keen chamber music and accompaniment teacher and
coach, and has written and implemented various accompaniment courses at
QCGU. Her teaching now centres on advanced-level students and on consulting
work for other teachers.
