======================================================================

Kathy has a busy piano teaching schedule at Somerville House and Private teaching at Southern Brisbane areas as well as performing and accompanying.  She has been teaching piano for over 18 years with many students winning prizes in Queensland Piano Competition, Music Eisteddfods, entry into tertiary institutes around Australia and overseas.

Kathy has developed a unique pianism retraining method which has helped many pianists to overcome their technical problems. The prime focus of this method is to help pianists to play

with ease and to play in nature which is the only way to aim for a better sonority in piano sound.  Physical and mental relaxations in piano are also the focus of her teaching.

Kathy obtained her Bachelor of Music degree, Master of Music Study in Performance and Master of music with Max Olding , Yefin Stesin, John Nel Roberts, and Pauline Belviso ( student of the great pianist - Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli) .  In recent years, she has been studied in short courses at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Aquiles Delle Vigne (student of the Great pianist Caludio Arrau and Gyorgy Cziffra) and Andrzj Jasinski  (chairman jury, in 2000, 2005 and 2010, of Chopin international piano competitions in Warsaw and many other prestigious international piano competitions; the sole teacher of international renown pianist Krystian Zimmerman).

Kathy was the winner of North Queensland Concerto Competition in Piano Section in 1998, awarded for Queenslander Foundation Prize, Bach Keyboard Prize and many other prizes.  She was also the finalist in Royal Music Piano Competition in Western Australia in 1990, and was awarded Lewis B J Reid Prize as the student with the highest marks of the year at the Queensland Conservatorium. A distinguish chamber player and achieved the highest ranking in Chamber Music at Western Australia Conservatorium of Music.  Kathy has also performed as soloist and chamber music concerts around Australia, Taiwan, Salzburg - Austria and been broadcasted nationally on ABC-FM and 4MBS-FM Radio.

Kathy has a proven teaching record with very high student retention.  She is enthusiastic and her real strength is her ability to build strong connection and learning partnerships with students and their parents.  Since Kathy has a busy teaching, research and performing schedule, for new students, an interview and audition is required to enter her piano classes.  Lessons may be conducted more than once per week according to the need of individual pianist.  Students who would like to achieve an outstanding technique through understanding of relaxation, sound training as well as aiming a better performance skill are most welcomed.  She is available for consultations, masterclasses before Eisteddfods, Piano Competitions, performance and examination or occasional re-training in piano techniques.
